Two albums. Two experiences.

Sixteen songs on each album, connected across English and Spanish. Each has its own music, expression and pacing.

Still My Own · Track 15 / 16

My Hips Heard It First

The feeling’s mutual. The pleasure’s mine.

My Hips Heard It First artwork · Chris in FullFrom Still My Own

A crowded dance floor, two cold waters, a chorus sung wrong on purpose. A laugh becomes a kiss. The night gets to be about the pleasure already happening, with enough room for another song.

Let the good part last.

Pleasure is underway before the man arrives. Friends, bass, water and laughter keep the night populated. The encounter adds something particular: his laugh, his attention, his deliberately wrong version of the chorus. The body notices, the rest of the person agrees, and the song lets the feeling last.

The pleasure does not need a lesson to justify it.

The night is already good. His arrival adds his particular laugh, intelligence, timing and heat. That difference matters: he is not a cure for an empty life, and pleasure is not merely recovery from pain. The song lets shared enjoyment be substantial on its own. The body notices, the person agrees, and the moment gets to keep being good.

On Still My Own

One more kiss. One more song. Before the title track opens a door to whatever comes next, there is this night to enjoy.

Concept, lyric writing, development and revision, musical and performance direction: Christian Rodriguez / Chris in Full.

Chris refined specific phrases, selected resonant passages, asked the choruses to develop and directed more room for dancing. His musical direction called for reggaeton-informed percussion accents, clipped nylon-string guitar, Spanish-pop color and intimate R&B harmonies within an electronic dance-pop pulse. It places that cultural interplay inside an English-language song, with nimble melodic rap and sung hooks sharing the same groove. Pleasure already belongs to the narrator; shared attention adds intelligence, humor and heat rather than supplying his worth.

Across Still My Own, Chris’s original writing, extensive rewriting and narrative development give form to his lived experience, imagination and emotional vision. He works between intuition and reasoning, refining language and musical direction so that phrasing, rhythm and delivery carry what he means. These notes describe creative development, not final recording credits.
