A note from Chris
I spent a long time wanting to be seen as good. I kept learning, trying, caring, and getting hurt. Eventually, I had to make room for the parts of me that could bite back.
I imagined a vampire living through centuries, helping people who still feared how different he was. Then he grows teeth for his own sake. I loved giving that change a body: the anger, the appetite, the freedom of no longer hiding everything that might make someone uncomfortable.
The transformation begins in care for another person. Then the years expose a cost: someone who can help others say no is still exhausting himself saying yes. Teeth become a boundary as well as a mythic image. Anger, hunger and mischief remain present, with responsibility for what he chooses to do.
These teeth protect me tooFrom the lyrics of Love Has TeethThe vampire gives the contradiction a body: someone can be feared for what he is while being valued for what he gives. His transformation breaks that bargain. He can care, desire, rest, laugh and refuse. The teeth do not make every impulse right; they make self-protection possible. A loving life becomes larger when the person living it is included in the love.
Truthfully makes room for a whole person. Love Has Teeth asks what it takes to protect that room, including the parts once called selfish or shameful.

I can love you and say no
You don’t get to rule my body
You can keep the love I gave you
You don’t get to call me yours
These teeth protect me tooConcept, lyric writing, development and revision, musical and performance direction: Christian Rodriguez / Chris in Full.
Chris developed the vampire narrative through specific language and repeated revisions, and directed a dark melodic atmosphere that remains playful and danceable. Heartfelt love, appetite and self-protection inhabit the same imaginative world.
Across Still My Own, Chris’s original writing, extensive rewriting and narrative development give form to his lived experience, imagination and emotional vision. He works between intuition and reasoning, refining language and musical direction so that phrasing, rhythm and delivery carry what he means. These notes describe creative development, not final recording credits.
